Video Power Editing Pitch

On November 28th, Video Power will organise an editing pitch at the Banka Studios in Maastricht. We select three filmmakers to present their work in progress to three experienced editors, in separate private sessions. Afterwards, the editors come with suggestions on how to continue, and offer their services.

What we are looking for:

- Short films (ideally under 30 minutes)

- Independent Documentaries, Animation, Experimental/Video Art and non-narrative Fiction are welcome.

- Filmmakers with open minds that are interested in a collaborative experience, are open to dialogue and willing to look at their project from a different angle.

- The level of experience is irrelevant. We are looking to support emerging and established artists equally.

- Dutch as well as International submissions are welcome. However, the filmmaker must be present in Maastricht on November the 28th and for subsequent editing days in order to be eligible.

What we are not looking for:

- Feature films

- Commissioned films, films made for publicity purposes and or films with a clear-cut message.

- Narrative fiction, traditional documentary or animation.

How to apply:

1. Make a timeline of selected rushes (max 45 min.) or a rough cut (max 30 min. + 15 minutes of extra rushes).

2. Make a video of maximum 3 minutes in which you talk about the challenges in the edit and why you think an external eye would help.

What we offer:

- Three film makers will be invited to show their selected rushes/rough cut to three experienced editors. This screening is followed by a conversation in which the editors ask questions and give their perspective on the project.

- Maker will be matched with the editor best suited to assist with their project. We have a total of 15 days of editing to offer to the three projects, how these 15 days will be divided amongst the 3 filmmakers depending on the needs of each project. For these work-sessions our edit cell (in Maastricht) is available, if needed.

- After the editing session(s) we will provide post-production coaching.

- Once finished, the film will be included in our Video Power catalogue.

Important dates:

October 28: application deadline

November 28: pitch day (10.00 - 20.00 @bankastudios, Maastricht). The pitches will be held without an audience.
