WTC A never-ending Love Story is the second film in a series exploring the impacts and legacy of broad-reaching political interventions responsible for the failed gentrification of the Northern Quarter in Brussels. The World Trade Center (WTC) in Brussels was constructed in the early 70s as part of the “Manhattan Plan”, which allowed for the forced eviction of ten thousand local residents. Half a century later, the project is still a total failure as new developers set their sights on the potential to profit off of the neighbourhood’s blight, while residents still struggle to maintain community cohesion and identity. WTC A Never-ending Love Story picks up where WTC A Love Story left off, once again mobilising actors and setting up different experiments in reenactment and fiction. This time, the filmmakers focus primarily on the Northern Quarter’s historical and contemporary challenges of resistance.
