Video Power and Viewmaster Projects are excited to announce Transitions, an immersive celebration of process-driven filmmaking and innovative art, set to take place from October 3 to 20, 2024, in Maastricht. This unique event will feature a free exhibition and a dynamic three-day gathering of artists and filmmakers from October 10 to 12 at Lumière, highlighting the distinctive methods behind independent and non-commercial filmmaking.

New Grounds Exhibition

As part of Transitions, we are proud to present the exhibition New Grounds, organized in collaboration with Viewmaster Projects. New Grounds will feature a diverse array of audiovisual works displayed across key locations in Maastricht's Sphinx quarter, including Bureau Europa, Limestone Books, and KUNST FRONT.

This exhibition delves into new possibilities and meanings in film and video art. It showcases works ranging from playful interventions to profound explorations of empathy and community. Central to New Grounds is the theme of falling, which symbolizes a departure from old certainties and invites new insights. The featured video works explore falling in various contexts—human bodies, objects, and natural phenomena like rain and ice—using techniques such as slow motion and repetition to challenge traditional views on gravity, vulnerability, and myth.

Gathering

The three-day gathering, held at Lumière, will bring together filmmakers, artists, and professionals for a diverse program driven by a maker-first ethos. Attendees can look forward to extensive artist profiles, focus programs, roundtable discussions, behind-the-scenes insights, work-in-progress screenings, and curated programs.
